Adding Google Analytics to Your Website

Adding Google Analytics to Your Website

Google Analytics is a powerful tool that helps you monitor and understand how visitors interact with your website. By adding a Google Analytics tracker, you’ll be able to track essential data such as user behavior, traffic sources, and website performance. Follow the steps below to set up Google Analytics and add it to your website.

1. Sign In to Google Analytics

  1. Go to Google Analytics and sign in using your Google account. If you don’t have an account yet, create one.

2. Set Up a Property

  1. Once you’re signed in, click on Admin from the left-hand menu, then click Create Property.
  2. Enter your website’s name, URL, and other necessary information. Choose your industry and time zone.

3. Create a Data Stream

  1. Choose Web as your platform.
  2. Enter your website URL, then click Create Stream.

4. Generate Your Tracking Code

  1. After creating the data stream, Google will provide you with a tracking code (Global Site Tag). This is the piece of code that needs to be added to your website to start tracking data.

5. Set Up Goals and Conversions (Optional)

  1. You can set up specific goals within Google Analytics to track user actions like form submissions or page views. This is an optional step, but it can help you focus on the metrics that matter most to your business.

6. Install the Tracker on Your Website

  1. Sign in to your InCom website.
  2. From the main dashboard, go to the Visitors section and click on Visitor Traffic.
  3. Paste the Google Analytics tracking code (Global Site Tag) into the Header Tags field.
  4. After pasting the code, scroll down and click Submit at the bottom of the page.

Done! Your Google Analytics tracking code is now active, and you can begin collecting valuable data about your website visitors. You should start seeing data within 24–48 hours after the code has been installed.
